When people hear “doggy daycare” they often picture a unit with rubber flooring and a webcam. Ours is different. There’s no building at all. Your dog spends four hours in real woodland, and Warren runs every daycare round himself.
What happens on a daycare day?
Warren collects between about 8:30 and 9:30. It’s a round, so collection runs across the hour. The drive out takes around 40 minutes, and the dogs settle on the way so they arrive calm.
Then it’s four hours in the woods with a group of six dogs. During the day you get a WhatsApp with videos and news of who your dog’s best friend was today. Dogs are dropped home between about 3:00 and 4:00, properly tired out.
Barnet and Finchley run on slightly different times: collection around 10:30 and home around 2:30, as they’re only a 15 to 20 minute drive from the woods.
What is the woodland like?
There are streams to splash through, bracken, and enough space for six dogs and one man to disappear into the trees. Muntjac deer live there, and pheasants come up out of the bracken. The ground holds firm in winter, so dogs don’t come home caked in mud, and in summer there’s plenty of shade.
Which dogs does daycare suit?
Dogs who love company, and dogs who need a proper outlet. Wrufo, a spaniel we’ve walked for seven years, used to howl when left at home. A day in the woods changed that: he comes home and sleeps. Quieter dogs do well too. Rum, a red Lab, walks steadily through it all.
Daycare is £55 a day. Find out more on our doggy daycare page, or get in touch.
